Poland 2019
Missions Trip to Poland
2019
We headed out to help Missionaries Rich & Lori McLane in Poland
Their vision was to see their community come together through the Love of Christ by creating an atmosphere that would be welcoming and inviting. They decided to do this by creating a church campground. This is where we came in. The previous helpers started building a pavilion, with a frame and unfinished roof. We helped lay down a concrete floor, put in electrical outlets/lighting, and finished the roof. Not only that, but we also started building picnic tables. (Now, we are lucky here in America. When we buy lumber here, it’s all ready to start building. When you buy it in Poland, you get lumber straight from the loggers… it’s not sanded, and maybe even still has some bark left on it. Talk about hard work! We went through a lot of sandpaper and worn-out arms sanding all that lumber.) While it would be nice to say that we finished those tables, we actually only made about 2 total. Lol! Due to all the unforeseen sanding, we had to leave that project for the next group.
While the guys (and Logan) were doing some of the hard and strenuous work, some of the ladies washed everyone’s laundry in cement tumblers (most homes did not have washers and dryers). A couple boys (we won’t mention names) thought that when the ladies washed laundry, they were to wash ALL of the boys laundry, whether it was clean or dirty. We couldn’t figure out why we never saw them wearing the clothes that we were washing, even though we washed it 2 days prior. 🤔During some down time, Justin decided to build the little boys that would be playing at the campground a cool fort. He even hung swings from trees in a nearby forest. The ladies that weren’t washing laundry went to town to teach an English class while using the Bible as their text’s books.
We were in Poland a total of 15 days, of which 3 of them were sight-seeing. During our sight-seeing days, we walked EVERYWHERE! The longest day for walking was 10+ miles. We took LOTS of pictures. We went to several places, including the underground Salt Mines, Warsaw, Krakov, & Camp Auschwitz I & II (Concentration Camps).
Maybe we will get to return on a future trip to Poland to help continue with the Campground, or other tasks that God leads the McLane Missionaries.

One of the trollies that took the jews to the camps. They were limited to 25 passengers, but they crammed 100+ passengers inside. The Jews were not let out until they reached their destinations. Not even to use the bathroom. They were cooped up in there for days at a time! Many people died inside before they even reached their destinations due to being trampled to death or suffocation.

This little girl was sooo good!

They thought they were being led to safety...
